Press Releases

Forty years ago JC Hayward arrived in Washington, DC as a young budding journalist from Atlanta when she landed a coveted position at WUSA-TV, Channel 9. Today JC anchors WUSA 9NEWS NOW at noon and she has remained a constant in an industry where change is commonplace. On Tuesday, February 21std, 2012 JC is celebrating a record breaking achievement that comes as a part of a long and distinguished broadcast career.

Washington, D.C. February 16, 2012 - In 1972 MASH premiered on CBS, Carole King sang "You've Got a Friend," e-mail was invented and Chinese Panda's were first introduced at the Washington Zoo. It was also the year that local television icon JC Hayward made her debut as the first female news anchor in Washington D.C.

Forty years later, JC is one of only two women in America who have remained at a single television station for four decades. Longevity doesn’t begin to describe JC though; her reporting and journalistic dedication has made her a multiple Emmy award winner, a medalist in the International Film Festival of New York, a Hall of Fame inductee in the National Association of Black Journalists, and Washingtonian of the Year.

WUSA 9News President and General Manager Allan Horlick says that it is no surprise that JC Hayward is consistently rated one of the top news people in Washington D.C. journalism; “from award-winning documentaries to interviews with Nancy Reagan, Maya Angelou, Luciano Pavarotti, Nelson Mandela and Whitney Houston her journalistic work has made JC Hayward the standard for Washington journalism.”  Horlick adds; “we are so proud to have been the long time professional home for JC and her tremendous work on and off the air for this community.”

In 2006 JC added another responsibility to her on-air duties when she was named WUSA’s Vice President for Media Outreach. In addition to acting as the liaison to the metro Washington community JC has received two honorary doctorate degrees from both Howard University and Southeastern University.

Romney advisor Norm Coleman made waves on BioCentury This Week television when he predicted a GOP president will not repeal the Affordable Care Act. The news was instantly picked up by more than 20 national news and political sites. The Romney campaign quickly responded that it remains committed to repealing "Obamacare."

Washington, D.C., January 30, 2012 -- In less than two years, BioCentury This Week TV has already become the place where movers and shakers in healthcare come to make their views known -- and the place they go to hear what their colleagues have to say.

And what they say makes things happen.

BioCentury's interview with Mitt Romney adviser Norm Coleman is the latest example. On Sunday, Jan. 22, the former Senator from Minnesota made news when he predicted the GOP won't repeal the healthcare reform law, even if a Republican candidate defeats President Obama this November.

"You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president," Coleman told BioCentury This Week. "You can't whole cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what's been done."

The news ricocheted through the blogosphere, getting picked up by more than 20 national news and political sites (see list below).

And the Romney campaign quickly issued a rebuttal, saying, "Gov. Romney can and will repeal Obamacare, and is committed to doing so."

Getting the right people, asking the right questions, staying on top of the big issues of the day -- BioCentury This Week is the only news show that can keep you informed about what matters in healthcare and medicine today.

2 ACTIVE DUTY MARINES ARE FRAUD VICTIMS WHO GOT

HELP WITH A TOUGH TIMESHARE PROBLEM

As the United States Marine Corps celebrated its 236 birthday last week, one active duty marine family is thrilled to have found another military man who helped solve their serious problem. A retired naval master chief petty officer turned consumer advocate vows to help even more people win their battles with fraudulent timeshare companies.

Mt. Juliet, Tennessee- November 15, 2011 -

Timeshare Advocacy International LLC President Sean Austin says; "we are proud to have helped 800 consumers to date, and I was thrilled that one family could mark the USMC birthday with some new peace-of-mind news of their own.

"My wife and I are active duty Marines and were fraudulently snared into purchasing a timeshare in May of 2009 with lies of a great investment and tax breaks, which was a complete lie. Like many people today we had no idea where to turn and were constantly contacting agencies who said they were there to help, which was also a lie and seemed to be traps. After initially contacting Timeshare International, my wife and I knew that they were not frauds and the real deal."

"I can say with the deepest gratitude that Timeshare International got us out of our timeshare with full reimbursement in 2 months from when we started the process. If you are in dire need of help like my family was you need to contact Timeshare International Advocacy because they can and will do everything in their power to help you just like they did my family. As horrible as it is to say I hope as long as they are people like myself and my wife who get scammed into purchasing these timeshares it is good to know that you are there to be at the rescue for families like ours."

TAI stands with and fights for all of their clients during the entire timeshare cancellation process. The experts at Timeshare Advocacy International, LLC are available for important money saving interviews. Please check the website for additional information at www.timeshareaide.com.

Recent Pew Research Center Study Substantially Underestimates Interracial Relationships - NY Author offers a fresh approach for a new and diverse world.

This summer, the Pew Research Center ("Pew") reported that 14.6% newlyweds versus only the 8% of current marriages being interracial. While the Pew Research released over the last few months has been interesting, it provides a limited picture on interracial relationships.

New York NY, August 17, 2010 - Author J.C. Davies gave up a thriving Wall Street career to spend the last 18 months researching and writing about all aspects of interracial and intercultural dating. The pretty blonde known as Racy J.C. runs a daily blog that discusses intercultural relationships that include, but are not limited to: Latinos, Asians, Blacks, Jews, and Indians. Currently, books and experts on interracial dating focus solely on black/white relationships, which is a very small part of the pie, according to the Pew only around 11% of all newly married interracial couples were black/white. In the next 40 years Caucasians will likely be the minority in the U.S. so we need a fresh new perspective for dating this new and diverse world.

The real number of interracial relationships is likely much larger than Pew stats. The statistic that is most often quoted is that about 8% of people in the US that are in interracial marriages or around 10 million. But this underestimates the number of these relationships as none of these "marriage" statistics include people that are in interracial relationships that are cohabitating, in a relationship, but living separately, or "just dating." The 2009 census showed that only just over a half of the US Population over 15 is married or 240 million or 52%. We also note than some ethnic groups have lower rates of marriage then the US average including Latinos at 48% and Blacks at 33%, another reason the statistics are likely understated. These marriage statics also clearly exclude the gay interracial dating population. Ms. Davies would argue instead of just the 8% of married people that are in interracial relationships the number is more likely closer to 8% of all those over 15 so closer to 19 million or possibly even more.

TELEVISION TAKES A BACK SEAT...

One Email at a Time

A new study released yesterday indicates that the internet is poised to overtake television as America's source for news and information. This is a tipping point for traditional advertising, and the ripples will be felt here in Central Florida. Two local companies have put their web-savvy skills together to create the perfect storm of marketing solutions for companies in Seminole County.

Lake Mary, Florida January 7, 2011 - Two Seminole County companies have joined forces to help their small business colleagues grow the bottom line. Why? Simply because the latest statistics are truly eye popping!

  • The #1 use of the internet is reading and sending email
  • 3 out of 4 Americans use email nearly every day
  • Email use surpasses search engine use AND surpasses looking for maps or driving directions
  • 94% of all internet users send or read email

As the economy in Central Florida continues to languish, Longwood FL's Problem Solved LLC and Lake Mary FL's CopyDoneRight.com have formed a partnership to help business ride the internet & email wave. The new venture will offer easy, affordable relationship marketing options with extra discounts for any business in Seminole County.

Problem Solved CEO David Axel says, "The P.S. Customer Retention & Profitability Plan is a new specialized email relationship marketing program and it's the perfect tool for anyone looking to increase exposure for their products or services in a hugely cost effective way." As for the new partnership, Axel adds, "when we had a chance to join forces with a smart, talented Emmy Award winning writer who is also a Seminole County gal, we couldn't pass it up." Axels' Longwood FL company is well-known as an online revenue generation firm. Problem Solved LLC builds & maintains websites, runs e-commerce and social media for the likes of the NCAA and International Travel Solutions.

Sandra Gehring, President of CopyDoneRight.com explains that e-message does matter, "Most people don't want to read emails that walk and talk like advertisements. Instead, we put together the kind of messages that help companies develop personal relationships with their customers." Gehring says, "Dave is one of the brightest guys in the internet space today, and a joy to work with. He & I both know that relationship marketing via email is a crucial component in any successful marketing strategy in 2011."

Because Gehring and Axel live and work in Seminole County, they've put together special pricing and discounts for other Seminole County companies.
